As a storyteller, I invite anyone who has enjoyed (or not so much) my media to tell me. I want to build and engage with a community that can provide the steady space I need to navigate the ships to their destinations.

I draw inspiration from the media that I grew up with. The Outer Limits & Twilight zone (the new ones, not the old until much later), Roleplaying games, video games, and the many, many books I've read.

FAR FROM HOME

The year is 2070, and life is very different than it used to be in the good old days of the early 21st century. Industrial pollution and climate change have devastated the biosphere. Nowhere on the planet is safe from pollution, mega-storms, or famine. Right now, the hottest ticket in town is the Colonial lottery, and the chance to leave a failing Earth behind.

The same corporations that ruined the Earth and everyone with the means to form their own and lease space on a slow-ship is doing so. The Orbital shipyards high above Earth work non-stop to build and fit cryo-vessels large and small.

The Horizon will be the first sent to it's namesake planet, and the third cryo-ship launch overall. Their mission is to establish a stable colony on a remotely-surveyed world and report home as soon as possible to establish follow-up missions. But things go wrong when experimental technology acts up, the planet is more hostile than believed, and evidence of past settlement is found. Will Horizon be humanity's salvation? Or the doom of all who set foot there?

Horizon is the first novel in the Far Away From Home series by Author R.A. Shamon. Members of the Beta readers team can expect to see their first peak in early 2025.

IN LEVIATHAN'S SHADOW

Two armies, of light and darkness met on the field of battle. Brothers once, now avatars of good and evil destined to clash in a battle that would shake the very heavens.

The first part of the prophecy was fulfilled, as was the second when "The judgement of the stars, grand ambitions laid low by dancing darkness" arrives as a flaming mountain from the sky. It crashed across the unclaimed lands before it laid both armies low, coming to rest at the end of a long canyon. The lands nearby withered and rotted to dust, as did any who approached, and for a time there was a peace, bought with the blood of the fallen.

But tavern tales spread of strange folk met in the wilds who dress oddly, and know not the customs of the land. Some even claim to come from the stars above, calling the magic of our world an abomination.

A chance meeting between a group of unlikely heroes holds the key to unlocking the secrets of what really happened all those years ago, as a prophecy on a forgotten frontier world threatens to unravel an empire of a thousand worlds.
